A simple tool for searching through a GED file, extracting each
matching GED record.
You may take
a copy for free.
You'll need to have Perl installed, it is available for almost
every platform. Run the program like this:
ged-search.pl myfamily.ged output.txt record-type search-string ...
Where record-type is one of: "all" (for all types), "any" (same as all),
"family", "individual", "person" (same as individual), or "note".
Any number of search strings is allowed, using "and" logic. If a search
string begins with a tilde ("~") then that string must not exist in the record.
In the case of "index" as the first search string, then the record with the
numerical match of the second search string is the output record.
